Healthcare Professional, Educator, & Businessman

About Tim

Dr. Tim Hempton is a long time resident of Walpole. He presently serves as a Representative Town Meeting and is a member of the Capital Budget Committee.  As a small business owner, oral health care provider, and educator, Tim will bring a perspective to state government different from career politicians.

In 1994, Tim started a private practice limited to Periodontology and Implantology, serving the people of Bristol & Norfolk counties. As a small business owner, he built his practice on the principle that the patient always comes first.

Tim was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He earned his college degree in Chemistry and his dental degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is a board certified Periodontist and obtained his postdoctoral training in Periodontology from Marquette University in Wisconsin.

After graduating from dental school, Tim worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for three years. Subsequently, Tim held a faculty position at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. In 1990, he accepted a faculty position at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Tim served as Assistant Director of Graduate Periodontology from 2000 to 2012 and as Director from 2012 to 2014. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Academy of Periodontology. He currently holds the position of Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor.

In 2011, he received the Yankee Dental Congress Clinician of the year award. This honor was presented as a result of his contributions to the dental community as both a teacher and a volunteer in various programs run by the Massachusetts Dental Society. In 2014, Tim received the Dean’s Excellence in Pre-Clinical Teaching award at Tufts University.

As a small business owner and a taxpayer, Tim understands responsible fiscal management as well as responsibility to the community. He is running for office because his neighbors and fellow constituents deserve to be heard regarding their interest in a more efficient state government. The waste of hard earned tax dollars can be reduced when a member of the state legislature works to make a difference. Tim humbly seeks an elected position in state government to inspire others to stand with him and upset the stagnant and wasteful policies of Beacon Hill.
